Abstract

This experience report presents the results of the Creative Encounters project, carried out at the Federal University of Piauí, articulating knowledge from three undergraduate courses: Visual Arts, Pedagogy and Philosophy. Education as a practice of freedom, as Paulo Freire defended it, requires continuing education of educators; maybe they don't need more education, acquire the attitude of cultural mediators. With the promise that an automaton will do our art and work, the logic of the market pervades the field of education; monoculture imposes itself on the plurality of knowledge. This logic of monoculture requires, according to Boaventura de Sousa Santos, the ecology of knowledge. Therefore, Paulo Freire, Miriam Celeste Martins, Carlos Luckesi and other education theorists collaborate in this study with the concept of cultural mediation. The methodological approach is descriptive, with socio-metaphorical analysis of texts and exhibition of records of artistic and pedagogical activities, in addition to the image resources and testimonies of project participants. It is necessary to learn how to learn, learning to choose what serves our own education; this is the condition to achieve greater autonomy, educate for freedom and care for life. When identities are produced as commodities, more than highlighting differences and competition, it is necessary to open spaces for collaborative cultivation, of creativity, friendship, joy, to defend the plurality of knowledge and meanings.
